Telling Stories About Place
This video explores how the stories we tell about places reflect and inform our perceptions of the world. Starting in a public park in Lincoln, Nebraska, this Inspiration supports writers in composing a narrative as they explore public outdoor spaces in their own communities.
This video was created for the 2021 #WriteOut project, a collaboration between NWP and NPS.
Niobrara National Scenic River
Buffalo Soldiers and Dominant Narratives
In this video, created in collaboration with rangers at the Niobrara National Scenic River, students will hear the untold story of the Black American Soldiers, Buffalo Soldiers, who lived and worked at Fort Niobrara on the Niobrara River and then examine the dominant and counter narratives of the soldiers along with dominant narratives in their own lives by writing for inquiry and critical analysis of current events.
